The Admiralty announces in Mesopotamia the river gunboats Tarantula, Mantis and Motes came in contact with and passed the retreating Turkish army westward of Shumran on February -U They inflicted heavy losses and captured or -destroyed four Turkish steamers, and a n'umbcr of barges containing ammunition. CAMPAIGN IN PERSIA, Renter's Telojfams. TEHERAN. March 4. The Russians have captured Hantai clan and are pursuing the retreating enemy. (Hamadan is in western Persia.)
