I The Royal Scottish. Geographical Society recently presented the Livingston© gold medal, the highest honour this bocietv is able to confer, upon Mr Douglas W. Freshfield. D.0.L.. president of the Royal Geographical Society, in recognition of the great services he has rendered to geographical science, apart from his exploration work- in the Alps, Caucasus and Himalayas, and his books dealing with these mountains.
