Ist. Canterbury .Regiment and Engineers are all en parade at the same time. All cade;, companies this week havo been exercised in physical and eompa.itv drill, the weaiher having been unfavourable, for outdoor movements. The Post., and Telegraph C:v]o\ Corps. •which was recently tak<*t over b\ Minehan, and which lias heen .generally reorganised, paraded on Monday night. This unit will require-, to show improvement before the end of this year, but that promises to he accomplished under the new instructor. I hear that, owing possibly to the Christmas festivities, a slackness in the attendance of var'ous companies has been noticed, and it- is likely that the Alagistrate will have a busy day in the near future dealing v. ith the defaulters.. The secondary school cadet companies have commenced drills again, and there .is every prospect of then- making an even better showing than they did last year. The rolls in every ca.se are Stronger.

No. 7'2 Company Senior Cadets, which parade at Ricenrton on Tuesday evenings, under Lieutenant- Robinson and Sergeant-Major Pound, is showing a marked improvement under the new syllabus; of military training. The physical drill is welcomed as a change from the usual squad drill. This company is under a great disadvantage as compared with the town companies, having only a small hall to work in, when the weather is unfavourable for outdoor work. Outdoor movements ar« carried out on the public roads when the weather is fine. This company, for a small unit, is one of the best'for attendance., tho average parade showing 34 out. of 40. Considering that many of tho lad's work in the surrounding training stables, the attendance of the company must he considered good, more especially so on account of the stable duties -to he performed by the boys in the evenings.
