Ernest Brown was charged that., on December 15, he had fraudulently obtained 7s 6d from Horace Belmer by representing that ho wa.s an assistant tk) the inspector of weights and measures. He tva& remanded till January •5, as other charges were said to be pending. INDECENT ACT. Timothy Linekan and Isabella Jolly were charged with com muting a grossly indecent, act in Durham Street. Evidence was given l>y n neighbour, who said that children and others had seen t'ho offence. The accused were each sentenced to six months' imprisonment with hard labour, the police stating that the Homes would not take Jolly.
