Misses Theltna and Kura Maddren have cent gramaphonp records to tlie Mayor for soldiers in the training camps. At tho usual_ weekly meeting of tho Avonside Nursing Division of the St John Ambulance Brigade there was an attendance of forty-five. Members had drill practice, after which Dt Jennings gave a very instructive and interesting lecture, dealing with food, digestion, absorption, and Metabolism. Tho leotursr also explained where vegetarianism fails, and the function of several'glands in the body. Dr Jennings was 'accorded a hearty vote of thanks at the conclusion of his lecture. During the evening: seven new members were proposed.
