The Canterbury military district can show a very satisfactory, position with regard to tiio Eighteenth Reinforcements, which will shortly be mobilised. Yesterday the district increased its surplus of lit men for the d'raft from sixtv-six to eighty-four. Greymouth is the only group showing a shortage, and yesterday it reduced it from twenty-three to twenty. Kaiapo,' and Nelson retained their surpluses of twenty and five respectively, while Christchnreh increased its surplus from twenty to twenty-nine, and Timaru from "forty-four to fifty. The Timaru surplus will go to make good the Greymouth shortage.
