BOROUGH COUNCILS.
SPREYDON. The Spreydon Borough Ccuncil met Ust night; present—the Mayor (iMr TV. H. TVinsor), Councillors TV. J. Silliott, G. H. Rudd, D. Williamson, E. O'Rourke, A. Manhire and E. Clarke. The Finance Committeo reported that the receipts sinco last meeting were ±6l 6s Id. There were credit balances of £lB 6s 8d on the pit account, of £59 18s 10<i on tb« loan interest account, and of £5353 13s lOd on the electric lighting account Tho report was adopted, and accounts amounting to £503 2s ">d w9ro passed for payment. The Works Committee reported that it strongly resented tho tone of a letter received from a ratepayer regarding the bad stato of Ashgrove Terraco and River Road, and the committee had resolved to write to him to the effect that he is prepared to approach "the committaa in a reasonable manner the council would bo prepared to give tho _ matter consideration. The committee, in considering tho estimate for (he current year, recommended a sj'stcui of economy during these strenuous times, ir.d submitted a suggestion for works expenditure anointing to £.1850. Tho report was adopted. It was decided to gTant tho application of the Heathcota County Council for the use of six of the Spreydon Borough Council's electrio light poles for tha purpose of couI'ecting up the Cashmere pumping station with the Lake Coleridge line at Bairington fctreet. A special meeting of tho council was then held to consider the estimates for the year 1916-17, iho sug-gested amount being £2069. The estimates were approved
