The manager of a factory in tho Oldham district ujakes it- a practice of giving all his old clothes to one of the labourer. who i* i» i>oor circurohtances. A lew months ago rhe manager told him to call at bis lofiico. as ho had a cast-otf vest for him. ~ "When ho examined tho gilt at homo lie found in one- of the pockets half a crown. After a little study he decided to say nothing about- it, ,ju.st then, anyhow. A m.ontlf* b;.ter lie went up to the manager, and the. lolloping conversation took place " I've juf.t called to tell you, mi\ that in one of the pockets, of that- weskit you ga-ve rne a. month ago I found half'a crown." '■ Good gracious!" exclaimed' the astonished manager ; " and you mean to tell me. you good, honest workman, that you've brought it back!" X"o. sir."' answered the labourer: •• not- exactly. L've called for auoCLur Ac-kit!"
