A meeting of dairymen was advertised to "be held night, to consider regulations dealing with dairies, but it was decided by those who attended to postpones tho meeting indefinitely. Last night the Lyttelton Borough Council received a letter from the District Traffic Manager of Railways statintr that the Department had decided to contribute £5 5s towards, the funds of the local brigade in recognition of services rendered at the fire at the railway station in January last. At last night's meeting of tlie Riccarton Borough Council the Mayor (Mr J. There will soon be a shortage of burial plots in the Sydenham Cemetery antl the City Council has decided that a portion of that part of the cemetery on the south side now used as a paddock is to be taken in and subdivided into burial plots. The proposed new cemetery at Bromley will be made ready for burial purposes not later than a year from now. There will be a good deal of work to carry out and the City Surveyof is preparing a sketch plan of the proposed lay out. The By-laws Committee reported last night to the City- Council that fortyseven milk Vendors had. applied for licenses and twenty-thfee had been granted. The remainder were waiting the report of the District Health Officer. It was estimated that there were fulJy 200 persons vending milk in the city, which left about 150 who were ignoring the by-law. The committee had given instructions that persons found selling or offering or exposing milk for -sale within the city without a liceuse were to.be prosecuted. Tho report was adopted.

No trace can bo found of Maurice Fitzpatrick, an elderly man, lately residing at Dyer's Road, Bromley, .who has been missing since yesterday week. Be was last seen after purcnasmg chaff at Guinness's store, on the Bromley Road. He drove away, and later the horse and cart ,were found in the river past Burwood. Hie horse was saved, but nothing could be seen of its owner. The police have dragged the river in the vicinity, but without success. It has been decided to abandon further dragging as it is believed that if Fitzpatrick got in the river, his body has been washed down. He was married and had a grown-up family, one eor. being at the front. He kept a few horses on the old Bromley rifle range. In its report to the Tramway Board yesterday the Works and Traffic Committee stated that committee had decided that the wearing of armlets is ned by the military authorities to returned scrtdiers and others in tha board's employ should be made com' pulsory. At yesterday's meeting of the Christchurch Tramway Board, air S. A. Stap.cs asked the board if it was determined to kill traffic to the racecourses. On the last race day tho service was hung up for half an hour by failure of current, and there were other delays. There wcra complaints also regarding the handling of traffifc in*" Cathedral Square last Saturday. Idr T. H. Davey endorsed Mr Stapies's statements, and said that the delays were driving people to take the rail- " v.av.
