BURGLARY.

The residence of Mr J. 11. Wakelin at Merivale, was entered by a burglai somewhere between seven and' ter o'clock last evening, -while the family were .absent from home. Apparently however, the intruder was disturbed for though there -was a quantity oj silver plate, etc., within his reach he left with nothing but two watches. One bedroom had been completely ransacked and a small -watch taken. From another bedroom the thief took a gold watch of considerable value, a preseni from Mr "Wakelin to his wife on theii wedding day. It was while in the second bedroom that' tho man "was evidently disturbed, for the remainder oi the rooms had not been interfered with. Entrance was effected through one of the windows of the dining-room, which had been left unlocked.
