WAIMAKARIRI HARBOUR BOARD.
ANNUAL MEETING. The statutory annual meeting of tho Waimakariri Harbour Board was held last night; present—Messrs W. Doubleday (chairman), H. Revell, L. B. Evans, J. Barnard, T. Keotley, B. E. Li&saman and A. Macintosh. Mr Doubleday was re-elected chairman. Jn returning thanks, ho said that the year's operations had been limited owing to the bar being unnavigable most" of the time. If, as vras anticipated, the. Harbour Bill received the sanction of Parliament, the board might look ■ forward to a busy time. The various committees were re-elected, and the meeting .adjourned pending tho auditing of accounts. At the ordinary meeting plans of an elevated drain over the south branch of tho "Waimakariri were received from the North Canterbury Freezing Company. It was decided to submit tho plans to the Marine Department, the hoard having no objections to offer. The' harbourmaster reported a. depth of seven feet three inches on the bar at low tide. _ with the bar gradually shifting to the north. The work on the half-tide wall was again sinking and required attention. The report was adopted. The chairman and Mr L. 13. Evans were appointed to represent tho board in connection with the Parliamentary Committee proceedings on tho Harbour Bill.
The Finance Committee reported receipts amounting to £'22 Os 2d. and a debit balance of £133 8s lOd. Accounts i!mounting to i'2o 9s were passed lor payment.
