NEWSPAPERCIRCULATIONS. "LYTTELTON TIMES" AND "STAR" FIGURES. With referenco to the request contained therein, if your council, as a business concern, require the information, we shall be pleased to place our returns before you, as the executive officer, any time j'ou care to call at this office. Meantime perhaps your councillors would be interested in knowing that the 'Press" carries a larger volume of advertising than any other, paper in the Dominion." , / The "Sun," the town clerk added, had replied that it would give the information if the. other newspapers gave it Councillor M'Combs moved that the letter from the "Lyttelton Times'' should be received. The Mayor had permitted the other letters to be read. On a vote being taken it was agreed to read the letter, which ran as follows: "In reply to /your inquiry I have pleasure in enclosing herewith a. copy of the certificate? of Messrs Ollivicr Bros, that the net daily sale of tho ' Lvt'telton Times' last year averaged 19,587 copies per issue. The f ordinary average daily circulation of | the 'Star' shows 7303 copies, rising ! to 21.000 copies on Saturdays.- The 'Star', figures ' are taken " frorii our machine and publishing records.
