SEAMEN REFUSE TO SAIL WITH HIM. : Charged, with failing, to join an Admjrqlty. 'transport on January 31, Charles-Dunn, a seaman, told the Liverpool stipendiary, an astounding story. Pleading" guilty, Dunn said he had served/in >the liners. Titanic and the Empress"of Ireland, both of .which foun-. dered-at sea, and also, in the Lusitania and-.the' steamship Florisan, which were torpedoed by German submarines. In consequence of these: experiences, ho said,.- " seamen- regarded him as; a, Jonah,'' "and a disturbance arose on.the transport; over his ill-luck. .•; * ; •He alleged' the other , seamen threatened to throw him overboard if ho dared to make a trip in the transport. He therefore left the ship and. joined thp Royal Naval Reserve but', was. discharged as being unfit for further service.-..,'' " I think that a man who has been through so much deserves some consideration .at the hands of the magistrate," remarked the stipendiary. " x shall therefore bind you over to be of good behaviourj but if you get into any further trouble you will not .be let off again."
