A little girl, seventeen years of age, has been -warded tho St George's ' Cross- Twenty Germans marched up >,to her father's fKrm in Courlanu', and a lieutenant threatened that she would be violated and the farm burnt unless she produced, wine. Tho girl recalled that there were two ba.-rels of old liqueur in the cellar, but before tho brought it up she drop- - ped in a powder mad'e of bluebells, •which brings 011 drowsiness. The barrels wera soon emptied, the Germans rolling on the floor one after another. Tho girl filled a bowl and gave it to the sentries, saying, "it is tho lieutenant's order.'' Then returning, she disarmed the Germans, hiding their weapons in the cellar, while her father toped the limb:) of the insensible men. Finally, the girl traversed' swamps and found Ibe Siberian outpost. A few puis of ice cold water woke np the Germans, horrified to find that they wr.re prisoners
