WAS HE IRISH?
A recruit in Kitchener's Army was recently sent to the barracks of a largo provincial town. Shortly after his arrival there he thought ho would like to sco the sights, and asked for a pass from Iris sergwmt, which ho promptly received. Aftar "wandering round tho to his heart's contoiit he tried to iind his way ha,ck, and being unacquainted with tho place this was no easy matter. Eventually lie reacli(»d barracks some hours late, to bo brought before hi* sergeant for an explanation. Sergeant: " What is the meaning of your turning up so late?*' Recruit: ''l lost my way, sir. !; Sergeant: "You lost your way?'' TTeci*jsit : "Yes, sir." Serjeant : "Well, .you hod better stay in barracks until you know the town hotter. T>isiniss!"
