PIGEON FLYING.

Tho Christchurch Homing Pigeon Society flow off a, successful race from To Kuiti 011 Saturday, December 11. The birds were liberated by tho stationmaster at 7 a.m. in dull weather. At Wellington it was blowing a northerly wind, and at tho homo on (I a north-easter. Only two lofts timed in 011 the day of toss, with three birds, and only ono minute dividing the three birds. The raco was open for two days, and every competitor timed in his birds before the close of the race—tho best return the society has ever had from Te .Kuiti. The winner of first and spcial prizes was Mr A. Finlay son's Bonnie Doon, which flew tho distance of 405 miles 1336 yds air-line in 11 hours 3-lmin Msec —the fastest time from that race-point. The following is the result:—A. Finlayson's Bonnie Doon, 10'28yds Ift 3in per minute; A. Finlayson's Red Indian, 102Syds Oft 6in; R. M'G-loin's Chips, 1025 yds; F. Kingsford's Allan Doon, 77'2yds; E. Miles's Little Belgium, 7'ilytls; R. Poimsford's Singer, 6-14 yds; T. Newton's Linwood, 635 yds; E. Rowe's Imperialist, 63-lyds; E. Rowe's Lady Foy Gl4 yds; W. Docherty's Blue Star, 530 yds. The society also flow o£E another race from Culverden on the same day. Seventy-livo birds wore sent, divided amongst seventeen owners. The birds were liberated by the stationmaster at 1'2.30 p.m., in fine weather. The winner turned up to bo Mr F. Smith's Lady Sprite, which flew tho distance of 55 miles 1340 yds air-line in 1 hour 38min 20sec. The following- is the result: —F. Smith's Lady Sprite, 998 yds per minute; A. Finlayson's Satanella. 991 yds; A. Hancock's Blue Zionian, 982 yds; E. Miles's Miss Le Bon, 982 yds; E. Rowe's "Wheatstone, 978 yds; "W. Docherty's "Wrestler, 975 yds; F. Tapling's Spreydon, 972 yds; W. Johnson's Addington, 968 yds; F. Kingsford's Queen of Hearts, 957 yds; R. Draper's Riccarton, 952 yds; E. Fuchs's Good Hope, 949 yds; R. Pounsford's Sehvyn, 545 yds; J. Barter's Sunny Boy, 944 yds; D. Spenee's Carlton, 933 yds; "W. Doherty's Miss Peggy, 930 yds; J. Inkson's Blue Gown, 832 yds; J. Flewellyn'g Turquoise 458 yds.
