BOROUGH COUNCILS.
SPUEYDOX. The Spreydon Borough Council met hist-night; present the Mayor (Mr W. 11. W'insor), and Councillors E. O'lvourke, D. Williamson, (i. J{. Uudd, W. J. .Elliot. E. l Cl<uke, K. Hayes, JL H. Taylor and A. Manhire. The Finance Com mi Lice reported that the receipts for the past month had amounted to C-! 82 i!s lid. Accounts to the amount of £3ll -Is od were parsed for pay merit. The Works Committee's report was adopted. The foreman wrote tendering his resignation. which was accepted. A letter was read from the St John Ambulance Assoc union asking for help for Red Cross work, and if tho council intended to strike a rate for patriotic purposes. It was decided to reply that the council' had already giveu help to the Bed Cross and (hat- it did not favour the system of raising funds by local rating. Councillor Williamson moved that the kerbing and channelling of Domain' Terrace should be carried out as recommended by the previous council. Me moved further that Edinburgh Street should be metalled. Councillor .Elliot seconded the mot-ion. which after being discussed was lust. Councillor O'Koike was fiiven permission to withdraw his notice of motion .to the effect that the outside employers >lioul(l receive one month':notice.
