PROTEST AGAINST PATRIOTIC LOTTERIES. [Per Association*.] AFCKLAND, October 11. The Baptist Union to-day carried unanimously a- resolution protesting against the legalisation of lotteries for patriotic purjwses. The Rev .T. Howard Lawrence was admitted as a. member of the union. The treasurer's estimates for the ensuingyear showed receipts £1292, and expenditure £862. exclusive of a special grant of £IOO for Timaru.
