HOSPITAL SHIP.
A public meeting: was held, in the Sumner Town Half last night to eonside? the matter of supplies for the hospital ship. The .Mayor, .Mr <T. B. Laurenson, presided. Mr H. Buttle. ;;en.. the secretary of the Permanent, War Fund Committee, stated that lie had interviewed Mrs Holland, and gathered that what was mostly required was cash. The Rev W. J. Williams stated that there was yet- a surplus of £l3 .COO irom the contributions to the first ship. The Mayor said that the management of tho equipment seemed to lack organisation. Whilst the very best was only good enough for the men. no soldier should be allowed io lie his head, on ft eharity pillow. Everything should coma from the Government. He did not wish to dry up the w-eIU of charity, but if as the .Mayoress had stated, all the articles were supplied and c.ish was the only thing reputed, what was ih A cash wanted for?
