CRICKET.
COUNCILLORS AT PLAY.
A pleasant game of cricket, was Slayed. in Messrs Pync and Co.'s padoek, Mande-vUle Iload. on Saturday between the Riccarton Borough Council and the Riccarton Burgesses' Asscciation. The Association, batting first, made 31, and in their second innings declared' with wickets down for 89, a total of 120. The Council replied 1 with 51 in their first innings, and mode the required number "of .runs- without the loss of a wicket in the second innings. Group made 47 and Smith 25 not out. R. Rankin bowled best for Burgesses' Association, and Cropp. Smith and Dempster bowled best for the council. In the" evening the association entertained the council ati the Town Hall. A euchre match was held, resulting in a win for the association after a very close game. Supper was. provided by the association, and an enjoyable evening was spent.
