FEED THE STARVING.

JL Uui/ iiiu uiaiifi'ivi PROPOSAL FROM AUSTRALIA. SEND HORSEFLESH TO EUROPE. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. (Received January 9, 11.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, January 9. The managing director of the firm of Messrs Pitt, Son, and Badgery, "has written to the Comptroller of Customs, asking if horseflesh is exportable. He points out the great demand for meat in consequence of the war, the needs of Europe's starving thousands, and that horseflesh is a highly appreciated food on the Continent. The horse, he adds, is a clean animal and any objection to utilising horseflesh for food could only be sentimental. A client of the firm had stated that there wore a lot of nondescript horses of little value as workers, but they were very fat and would be a treat for the starving thousands on the other side.
