PERSONAL.
Mr H. J. Wynne aj-rived from the north to-day. Mr C. J. Reakes arrived from "Wellington this morning. The Hon R. H. Rhode* arrived from Wellington this morning. Dr Chilton was a passenger by the Wahine from Wellington to-day.
Captain Dreweto, of the Union Company's fleet, arrived from tho north this morning. Mr J. H, Howell, director of the Technical College, hopes to be back in Christehurch not later thaoi the middle of January. Mr J. H. Fountain and Mrs Fouutain, who bare resided in Christehurch for about twenty-five years, will leave for Auckland on Monday to take up their residence in that city. Both have taken an active part in philanthropic work in Christehurch. Mrs Fountain was one of the founders of the local Society for the. Protection of Women and Children and has been associated with the management of the Creche and Kindergarten Society, being president of the■ Linwood branch, the-Home for Children, tho Women's institute and the Huntly Disaster Fund.
