UNION SECRETARY ARRESTED

ALLEGED EMBEZZLEMENT. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, October 28. In the Magistrate's Court to-do,y, Ernest. J. Jones, secretary of' the Waterside Workers' Union, and at present under suspension by the president of the Union, was charged with fraudulently omitting to account, for four shillings. Counsel for the prosecution said that further charges were ponding, and as an audit was proceeding, he asked for an adjournment. Counsel for the accused protested against & remand, which, ho said, was sought to prejudice Jones,, whose case was to be considered by the Union next week. A remand till Tuesday was granted.
