NEW BRIGHTON.

MEETING OF SCHOOL COMMITTEE. [From Ora Cobkespondent.] A meeting of the New Brighton School Committee was held on Tuesday evening; present—Messrw T. S. Rides, J. Skinner, H. Goodland, A. P, Hopkins, C. israelson, F. Ward and the headmaster, G. W. Bishop. In the absence of the chairman (Mr C. H. Winnv) Mr T. _S. Rides presided. Messrs Hopkins and Rides were appointed a visiting committee for the ensuing month. The matter of heating the infants' schoolroom was left in the hands of the secretary to arrange with the committee of the hall. The headmaster reported that there was an average attendance of 371 out of 402 on the roll. It was resolved that the headmaster be given authority to purchase a set of nature study pictures for tho infant room. It was decided to close the school for the Easter holidays from Thursday, April 10, "to the following Tuesday morning. Tho headmaster read the balancesheet of the picnic, which showed a credit balance of £2 4s lid. Cash collected £26 IBs lOd. sale of tickets £8 ys, donation from Gala Committee £5, collected on trams lis 6d, total receipts £4O 9s lOd : expenses £.38 8s sd, leaving a balance in hand of £2 4s' lid. It was decided to send a. letter, of thanks to the various ladies who had assisted in collecting and in other ways and to enclose a copy of the balance-sheet.
