THE WEATHER.
An overcast, sky, a cold easterly breeze and drizzling rain made the conditions in Christ-church to-day rather uncomfortable. Similar weather was experienced in practically the whole of New Zealand. The BlufF was the only place to report a clear blue sky and bright summer conditions. A cloudy sky and a light northerly prevailed at Auckland. Drizzling rain and hazy skies were general at all stations north of Auckland. A fresh southerly was blowing and a cloudy sky was in evidence. The sky was overcast at Gisborne. Napier reported thunder and lightning.Rain and a light south-easter were reported from Cape Palliser and Cape Egmont. A light southerly, accompanied by rain, were the order at Wellington. Wcstport and Grcymouth experienced cloudy skies and light southeasters. JRnin was in evidence atTimaru and Oamaru. Similar conditions were reported from Dmiedin. All southernmost stations experienced overcast skies. The barometer is low throughout the dominion. Forecast for Caiitorhury:—Moderate to strong winds from between east, south-east and south. Weather cool and changeable. Further rain at times, heavy in parts. —F. L. Wooles. The following is the Government Meteorologist's' forecast:~Present indications are for moderate to strong easterly winds, veering by east Vo north and freshening. Expect drill weather, with much mist and fog in parts. Rain is probable, and barometer falling aaajn soon.
