Suffragettes, expecting the Judges of Assize to attend Birmingham Cathedral to-day, secreted themselves after evening on Saturday and during tho night- time. They painted over the side galleries, pillars, floors and pew fronts " Votes for Women. Stop forcible feeding."" The organ front was smashed, the puTpit disfigured and "Votes For Women " painted across the centre of a magnificent Burne-Jouos window. The vestry door was inscribed, "Clergy must rise on our behalf."
