AUCKLAND BLAZE.
HOTEL IN FLAMES. OCCUPANTS ESCAPE IN NIGHT ATTIRE. [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, March 18 Fire was discovered in the Shakespeare Hotel at midnight. The "James burst through the floor of the attic occupied by two waitresses. About thirty persons were sleeping in the hotel, in addition to the licensee and his staff. All escaped in their night attire. When the Brigade arrived the names had burst through tho hotel roof, hut were suppressed within a quarter <>f an hour. Much damage was dojie, chiefly by water.
