TO-DAY'S CASES. (Before Mr T. A. B. Bailey, S.M.) DRINK. "William Downes, with a cut over one eye. doddered in the box in a way which* showed that he was still suffering from the effects of the night before. " He is in a bad wtiy," said SeniorSergeant Mathieson. Downes was remanded for seven days. A gouty-looking individual who followed was speechless 'n the box, and was* obviously quite drunk .still. Ho was also remanded till Saturday morning. REMANDED.
A youth named Robert Gray, who was alleged to have used the alias of Leonard Parker, was charged with having, on January 10, at Wellington, stolen a. .suit of clothes, valued at £3 10s. the property of George Steel. " Senior-Sergeant Mathieson said other charges were ponding, and the accused was remanded till Saturday next, to appear ;H Wellington.,
