SQUALLY TIME AHEAD. Although the sky was overcast and a liglit sou'-wester blew, the weather in and around Christchurch was close and muggy. Cloudy skies Wore general throughout the dominion tin's mornm.K. Calm weather and a rather cloudy sky were in evidence at Auckland. All the northernmost stations reported hazy conditions. Gishorue and Napier experioneed light winterly winds and blue skies. WRnganui, reported a.light sou'wester and a blue sky. An overcast ■sky', and a fresh; nor'-west breeze prevailed at Wellington. Cape. Egmont. ('■ape Palliser. East Cape and Manukau Heads a 11' experienced cloudy skies.

Overcast skies and gloomy dark weather wero the order at West port p.nd Greymonth. Timnru and Oamaru reported blue skies and light easterlies. Dunedin enjoyed a beautiful summer day.-' Queens-town and Nuggets reported light westerly winds and blue skies. Squally weather and passing showers prevailed at the Bluff. The barometer is still hi'ih in the North Island, but lias a falling tendency in the South. But for one or two exceptions the sea around the dominion is smooth. The following is the Government Meteorologist's forecast :-- " Moderate to strong, southerly winds prevailing. The- weather will probably prove squally' and changeable. Bain probable.. Barometer unsteady, bu rising."-;
