"BLACK" WHEAT.
'.TROUBLE MAY SPREAD.
THE UNION'S REQUEST
By Telegraph.—Press Association—Copyright, (Received January 19j 10-45 a.m.) SYDNEY, January 19. The " Telegraph " understands that the New South Wales branch of the Federation of Labour has been officially approached by the Rural Workers' Union with a view to having the embargo on "black" wheat extended by the unions governed by the Federation. if tho proposal is agreed to wheat will be blocked on certain railway lines. Although harvesting operations are practically over, the trouble between the Farmers' aud Settlers' Association and the Rural Workers' Union is still serious, said a Sydney paper of Monday last. To-day it was reported tha„ all produce carted by iarmers or by non-unionists to the railway yards to be stacked or trucked would not be handled when it readied its destination. It was stated that various unions have agreed to rertise to handle any wheat declared "black" bv the R.W.U., and, faced by this predicament, leading buyers' agents are inclined to suspend buying until matters have boen settled between the unions and the farmers. The buyers' representatives are not e;iger to take the risk of purchasing "black" wheat to find the unions refusing to handle it at tho coast. Neithpr'Vtlie buyers nor agents of the shipping;' companies were consulted when the trouble commenced.
