WEATHER DULL.
Although the sky is still cloudy and heavy showers of rain fell this morning, the weather shows signs of holding up and prospects for more seasonable conditions are bright. Fine ther was reported from Otago and Foutbland. with the exception of Muggets, where rain was experienced. Beaky was in the same plight as Christchurch this morning as regards rain, but in Westland fair weather was general. In Nelson and throughout the Wellington and Taranaki districts heavy rain was in evidence, and throughout the whole of the North Island south?rhes were reported. Rain also fell at Manukau, but elsewhere in the Auckland ;ii>d ifav.k-s liay districts fine weather prevailed. The barometer is still low at all stations, but is steady. On the west coast of both islands heavy seas were reported, but moderI ate to '.mooth prevailed along the east coast.
i'he lollowing is the Government meteorologist's forecast:—Southerly windstrong to a gale at times. The weather will probably prove cold and showery. Snow on higher levels. The night will probably be very cold. The barometer has a rising tendency.
