FINE WEATHER.
AND COOL BREEZES. Tha optimistic tono of the prediction of yesterday, in regard to the weather, has been borno oub, and this morning conditions locally wero seasonable and pleasant, although there woro occasional breezes from the south-west. The barometer Ims risen since yesterday and indications are that northerly to westerly winds will bo oxperioncod in the near future. At Oamaru and Nuggets gloomy weather was reported, but from all other stations in the Southern districts lino weather was reported. In Westland, Nelson and almost throughout the whole of tho North Island overcast conditions prevailed, Wanganui and Auckland being the only parts in tho North to experience fair weather. North of Auckland a hoavy westerly gale held sway this morning, but the barometer has risen rapidly and with tho winds veering to northward a speedy recovery of normal conditions is looked for. Tho seas in Cook Strait, and off Kaipara Head and Cap** Pallisor are running high, hut elsewhere along tho Coast moderate to smooth was the order.
Tho following is tho Government Meteorologist's forecast: — "Indications for moderate to strong westerly winds and backing by West to North, then freshening. Mild and hazy conditions. Barometer little movement but fall after about sixteen hours."
