COMPULSORY ACQUISITION. DOUCEURS FOR LAWYERS. THE FARMERS' CONTRIBUTION. (By Telegraph—Special to "Star.") WELLINGTON, September 27. A return presented to-day, on tho motion of Mr Scott, shows the amount of law costs paid by the Crown in connection with the compulsory acquisition of estates under the Land for Settlements Act and the names of thelegal firms or practitioners to whom the costs were paid. The return deals with thirteen estates, the total legal costs in connection with which was £12,587 8s 6d, including £1268 5s 5d for " disbursements."
