A return shows that in addition to their parliamentary salary seven members of the Legislative Assembly, forming the Public Works Committee, during the past thirty-one months received £10,415 in fees, at the rate of £l2 weekly, and an additional picking of £1 10s daily allowance when absent from Sydney.
