IN FAVOUR. OP FREE LABOUR. [Pen Pivess Association.] WELLINGTON, July IS. The Farmers' Union Conference today passed tlio following resolution, brought forward by Mr J. Talbot (South Canterbury).—" That this Conference considers the time, has arrived for each provincial district- to set up a defence committee of town and country residents to take action to prevent strikes, and also organise free labour to take the place of strikers should employees cease work." WATER POLLUTION RILL. Tt v.-jis decided to ask the dominion Executive to carefully -watch the reintroduction of the Water Pollution Bill with a view to tlio prevention ol undue hardship falling upon factory owners and others.
