A WIDOW'S SOVEREIGN IRONY OF FATE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received July 18, 10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, July 18. A poor widow, ignorant, of racing, entrusted a youth going to the recent Flemingtou races with a sovereign to invest, 10s each on two rank outsiders. Tho woman learning from a newspaper that both had won, became so excited that she was seized with a fit and died. The irony of it all lies in tho fact that tho widow's son met a youth at tho races who persuaded him to invest tho widow's money on favourites, but both lost.
