Indeed, the last-named pair ha'd ( an extraordinarily triumphant pennon, for they nlso secured tho Irish and Scottish doubles championships -as well jik the mixed doubles at Malvern, the northern championships at Liverpool and tho North of F.ugland championships at Scarborough. In. tho ladies' singles, too, Mrs Larcombo was wonderfully successful, her victories including' tho Irish and Scottish championships and tho open events at Tlrixtou, Carlisle, Eastbourne (South of England championship), Liverpool (northern championship) and Scarborough.) .

MT-iOughlin secured tho first two games, using tho cannon-shot ecrvice. Wilding quickly collared the sorvieo and nonplussed the American by brilliant picking-up. Tho terrific smashing- and driving of Wilding's service was untukcable. M'Loughlin at 5-5 lost his clianco of victory. Wilding in tho second set was master of tho situation. Jl'Louglilin , was ai sea with tho champion's service, bis oira weakening. Tho third set was exciting. M'Loughtin played many groat strokes and secured two love. Wilding won tho next four straight off, being wonderfully resourceful and active. M'Loughlin secured the next thrco and Wilding equalised. A terrific, struggle followed, each winning alternately, until M'Loughlin's service gave him a, lead of 8-7. Here Wilding's physique triumphed, and M'Lcughlin. showed signs of distress at tho finish. LADIES' CHALLENGE OUP. Mrs Lambert' Chambers had a. walk-over in tho ladies' challenge round. There were 10,000 peoplo present and several thousand were unablo to gain, admission.
