SUPREME COURT.
CRIMINAL SITTINGS. Friday, May 16. (Before his Honor Mr Justice Denniston.) The criminal sittings of the Supreme Court were resumed to-day before his Honor Mr Justice Denniston, Mr T. W. Stringer, K.C., conducting the cases for tho Ci'own. A charge of indecency. Thomas M'Kinnou Collins was charged with having, on February 24, 1913, at Lower Riccarton, committed an indecent act. Mr Donnelly, and with hini Mr C'assidy, appeared lor the accused, who pleaded not. guilty. Evidence was given to show that accused bore the highest character. Counsel for the defence urged mistaken identity. The jury, after retirement, found the prisoner not guilty, and lie was discharged. A CASE FOR APPEAL. In the case in which John A\ illoughbv was found guilty of arson, Mr A. T. Donnelly intends to bring arguments concerning the admissibility ot certain evidence in the case before the Court of Appeal, and sentence has been deferred on that account, the accused being allowed bail. A SERIOUS CHARGE. Lester Herbert was charged with having had unlawful carnal knowledge in respect of a girl under tho age of sixteen, in connection with whom another young man was found guilty of a similar offence yesterday. Mr Cassidy appeared for the accused, who pleaded not guilty. Evidence was given .showing the. excellent character borne by the accused. (Proceeding.) [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, AI ay 16. _ In the Supreme Court to-day Robin Jasper Crago was charged with shooting at Skeats and Hannah while on a trial trip in a motor-car, ol which Crago professed to l>n the purchaser. He pleaded guilty. Tho evidence showed that Crago was addicted to evil habits in private lite and lie was sentenced to ten years' rotnrinatho treatment. WELLINGTON, May 16. Vincent Fumes; and Jo.eph Patrick M'Namara were found guilty in the Supreme Court of assault. iiik a (ihiuaman. M'Namara was placed mi probation for twelve months, with very ,iirin//enl conditions.
