CHILD BURNED TO DEATH. [Pjcr PnESs Association.] WELLINGTON, May 16. A sad fatality occurred at Shannon yesterday. Mrs Galo left a two-year-old daughter in front of the fire while she went to the washhouse. A few seconds later she heard the child screaming, and returning met her enveloped in flames. She was very badly burned herself in her attempt to save the child, who expired shortly after the arrival of medical aid.

Stella Wood, thirteen years of age, daughter of Nathan Wood, railway employee, fell dead at Clifton while driving the cows home. Heart failure was the cause of death.
