CANNIBALISM AND SLAVE TRADING. By Telegraph.—Press Association—Copyright. (Received May 16, 10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, May 16. At the Presbyterian Assembly the Rev R. Gillan declared that cannibalism was still prevalent in the New Hebrides aud recently the bodies of two women and two children were eaten. Mission work was interrupted by unscrupulous French traders who, amongst other breaches of the law, kidnapped and sold Natives. He himself had bought one for £l4 and released him from bondage.
