Considerable damage has been done by the storm, and some of the low-lying suburbs are flooded. The heavy sea continues, and has swept away the bathing-sheds at Manly and some other resorts. There are heavy floods in the Hawkesbury, Nepean and Hunter Rivers, and large areas of the low-lying lands are inundated, doing serious damage to crops, and causing considerable losses of stock. Many people have been compelled to leave their homes, and in some cases they had to be rescued by boats. I Numerous railway and landslips are. reported, and traffic has been impeded. A man named Egan, was crossing a creek in a sulky, and he and his horse were drowned. A second man was carried by the flood for a. mile, but escaped. Maitland and other townships in the Hunter Valley have been cut off, and are in a serious position. Latest reports. however, say that the flood is stationary, and most of the other rivers have commenced to subside. BRISBANE, May 16. The express was blocked beyond Singleton, and all northern traffic is temporarily suspended.
