[Per Press Associations WELLINGTON, May 15. At the meeting of the New Zealand Rugbv Union's Management Committee last night a request was received from Auckland to change the date of the Auckland match against the Australian team from Wednesday, August 2/, to the following Saturday, owing to the Saturday half-holiday being in force. The committee decided that no change could be made. THE LYTTELTON-BOYS' HIGH SCHOOL MATCH. DISQUALIFICATION OF PLAYERS. TAKEN IN' COMMITTEE. In the President's Cup match, played on' April 19 last, between -the Boys' High School and Lyttelton teams, it was asserted that the play of the Port team was verv rough and unfair. During the following week the headmaster of the Roys' High School, in a letter to the newspapers, stated that the play of the Lyttelton team was most unsportsmanlike and that one player of the School team was openly struck by an opponent. The secretary of the Lyttelton Club replietl to the headmaster's letter, and incidentally acknowledged that one of the Lyttelton team had struck a Boys' High School player under great provocation. The matter was then referred to the Canterbury Rugby Union committee by the headmaster and the executive of the Lyttelton Club, the club asking the governing body to hold an inquiry into the matter, and stating "that, for the sake of the reputation of the Lyttelton Club, the executive had decided not to include the offender in any of its future teams. It was alleged that the Boys' High School player who had been struck had used insulting language. The Rugby Union committee decided to call before it the Lyttelton player and the Boys' High School player ; with a view to a thorough investigation of the matter. The inquiry wa*s held on Tuesday evening, but no report of the proceedings was given to the newspapers. This morning, however, a, letter has been published, stating that the Lyttelton player has been suspended for three playing Saturdays and the Boys' High School player for one playing Saturday. On application to the secretary of the Rugby Union it was ascertained that the whole matter was taken in committee, and the inquiry therefore had not been open to the Press. The statement made by the correspondent in reference to the disqualification of the players was, however, confirmed.
