BIBLE IN SCHOOLS.

[Per Peess Association.] AUCKLAND. May 12. A largo demonstration by supporters of the Bible in schools was held in the Town Hall to-night, presided over by tho Mayor. Among the speakers was Miss Butler, bead mistress of the Girls' Grammar School, who advocated the restoration of the Bible to the schools on account of its literary value, historic value and value as a character builder. She said thai- the Bible placed before a child's mind the highest ideals possible The Rev W. A. Hays spoke of the success which, he said, had iollowed the introduction of the Bible into the schools in Australia. while Canon Garland also spoke. M.r William Collins, a public school teacher, supported tho moveioent. and claimed that m doing so he represented a large number of other teachers.
