THE OFFICIAL VISITS.
MEMBERS OP LOCAL BODIES MEET CAPTAIN HALSEY. RETURN VISIT THIS AFTERNOON. Promptly at eleven o'clock the official visits were paid. Mr Richard Moore, chairman of the Lyttelton Harbour Board, accompanied by Mr Cyrus J. Williams, secretary and engineer to the Board, and Captain C. H. Thorpe . harbourmaster, boarded the vessel and was introduced to Captain Halsey. Then came the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr H. Holland), Councillors W. H. Cooper and A. Williams, the Mayor of Woolston (Mr J. G. Graham), Mayor of New Brighton (Mr C. H. Winny), Mayor of Lyttelton (Mr J. R, Webb), Mayor of Kaiapoi (Mr R. Wylie), Mayor of Rangiora (Mr J. Sansom), Mayor of Riccarton (Mr E. Reynolds), Messrs G. Laurenson, M.P., D. Buddo. M.P., J. J- Dougall (Navy League), F. Horrell (Hospital and Charitable Aid Board), M. J. Miller, R. Hill Fisher, H. P. Murray-Aynsley, H. J. Marriner, H. R. Smith, H. R. Rusbridge, C. Allison, T. D. Boag, A. Pearse, J. Wright, R. Evans,. L. A. Stringer and N. IC. Bowden. The party moved to the quarter-fleck and there Captain Halsey expressed his pleasure at the welcome extended to his vessel. Mr R. Moore then o fie red to Captain Halsey the facilities of the port during the ship's stay in port. It was arranged that tlte return visit by Captain Halsey this afternoon should'bo the response to visits paid by all the representatives of local authorities. Commander Stopford, of H.M.S. Pryamus, paid his official visit to H.M.S. New Zealand immediately after the hjg cruiser was berthed.
