ADELAIDE, April 26
The Hon G. F. Pearce, Federal Minister of Defence, referring to the " Manchester Guardian's" statement, says that Lord Denman has received a cable imessage from Mr Harcourt to the effect that Australian ships may fly the white ensign. His Majesty's Government considers it unnecessary to make any formal notification to foreign countries regarding the status of Australian ships. (The statement referred to was that the "Manchester Guardian" said that the Government was corresponding with Australia regarding its locally controlled fleet.
