ALL DIED AT SAME AGE.
A curious family history of death occurring at the same ago was revealed at an inquest at the London Coroner's Court recently. The inquiry concerned the death of a man named Oliver, aged lifty-six. Ho had been ill for some weeks, and being much better, went to an office in Aldernianbury, E.G., and obtained a situation. An liour or two later heavy snoring was heard in an adjoining room, arid on the door being filing open Oliver was found unconscious on the floor. He Mas removed on the ambulance to St Bartholomew's Hospital, where lie died. A manufacturer's agent, who had known the deceased for some years, stated that ho always had it on his mind that lie would die suddenly, as his father, a sister and a brother had done at the age at which he had arrived. Dr Gostwyek Shore, of St Bartholomew's Hospital, said that death was due to apoplexy. Answering a, juryman, who asked why a doctor was not called before the man Mas taken to the hospital, an inspector said it was the invariable practice in the city to call the electric ambulance and take the patient to the hospital, as it. was quicker than summoning a medical man. One of the electric ambulances, he added, could always he called to a case and have the patient at St Bartholomew's Hospital in five minutes from any part of the city. Of course, if the patient was suffering from wounds or suspected poisoning, , the police used their discretion. The jury returned a verdict of death from natural causes.
