Mr G. Roberta, M.P., presiding at tho Conference of the Labour Party at Lambeth, criticised Canada's offer of battleships, which, ho said, would greatly add to Britain's annual expenditure. If Mr Churchill's assurances were accepted that the defensive forces wore, sufficient, three vessels must he in excess of tho requirements. Moreover, giving to the colonies representation on the Defence Committee was fraught with far-reaching; consequences, and must be the subject of searching ihquiry.
