. » Mr Bernard Tripp, who has been on a visit to the Old Country, returned to ChristchuTch to-day. The death at Dunedin is announced of Mr C. S. Reeves, a member of the Representation Commission and an old Volunteer officer. A Mar ton telegram says that the largest function of the kind in the district of Hunterville was held last night, when Mr I<V P. Hockly, who is leaving the district, was tendered a complimentary banquet and was presented with a. purse of sovereigns, and Mrs Hockly with a gold watch and chain. The gathering was x large and representative, and highly complimentary references were made to Mr Hockly's work for the Reform Party.
