A further batch of sixty-one women were fined 5s and cost*, 6s, for wearing protruding hatpins. VOLCANIC DISTURBANCES. Tho'Tofua, which has arrived, brings news of extraordinary volcanic disturbances'at Nounfou. Thirty volcanoes are in eruption on this island simultaneously, and the topography has been altered thereby. An inland lake dropped two' feet below normal, and ono sido of the island has risen three feet. THE ADELAIDE JEWEL ROBBERY. ADELAIDE, October 31. In connection with the robbery at Messrs Harris and Scarfc's, jewellers, the detective discovered three- brief bags, full of jewellery, valued at between £IOOO and £2OOO, on tho roof of the lift well.
