STAR OF CANADA.

THE SALVAGE OPERATIONS. [Pe* Press Association.] "• GISBORNE, August 13. The Star of Canada salvage operations have heen suspended. Last night the water broke through into the en-gine-room and No. 4 hold, the Vessel settling down. The boiler fires were extinguished, and the salvors were without steam for the winches. The heavy machinery is covered with water, and it is believed to be beyond rescue, though the refrigerating engines may possibly be recovered. Messrs Niven and Company, it is stated, had not purchased the vessel, but were employed by the salvage authorities to dismantle the machinery.
